Kundalini Yoga with Jill

Kundalini Yoga is an everyday yoga practice, to keep you fit and healthy in body, mind and soul. It includes mantra, asanas (postures) and kriyas (a particular set of asanas) and meditation, with a good dose of deep relation and gong playing included.

Classes allow you to focus on yourself throughout without competition with your class mates. Close your eyes and go within, it is about you—not about the space, the people or the teacher, who will guide you gently through the practice.

Yoga promotes strength and flexibility and keeps the body aligned in a posture that allows it to exercise and heal at all levels. Kundalini Yoga also promotes  and expands the breathe and the lung capacity. Throughout our classes we focus on the breath, with different pranayama that give us better control of our lives through the breath. We all know how to breathe automatically and cannot stop breathing, but maybe we don’t realise the effect of our breath in changing our moods and in expanding our lungs and our lives. Yoga teaches us this and helps to increase our health through our improved lung capacity.

At the beginning of a Kundalini Yoga class, we chant the Adi Mantra, Ong namo guru dev namo, I bow to the Infinite, I bow to the teacher within, which connects us to the Golden Chain of teachers over thousands of years, and connects you to the teacher within, the strength and peace of your own heart.

Every class has a kriya which is a series of exercises that have been put together by the Yoga Masters, and the kriya is designed for a particular healing purpose, e.g. for the Heart and lungs or for Balanced Creativity.

If you come to classes as a beginner you can find your space without worrying about anyone who may be more experienced than you. Use your inner teacher , your intuition, to find the level of practice that suits you. Sing from your heart and from your naval point, with mantra and chanting if you want to, if silence is your choice  then that is fine too.

Everyday we feel different. Let the practice find your safe place. It will be different when you feel well to when you are tired or unwell, take it as it comes each day. Kundalini Yoga is for you, today.

Come to a Kundalini yoga class and enjoy a bit of time for yourself. (About an hour and ten minutes). There are mats and blankets in the studio if you need them, and you will join our Sangat – the community of people practicing and loving Kundalini Yoga!

Kundalini Yoga Classes

Kundalini Yoga with Jill has four classes every week.

Mondays at 6pm on Zoom

Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 5pm on Zoom

Thursdays at 5.30pm at the Bundy Hall, starting on 7th January for anyone who would like to join. Please arrive 10 to 15 mins early on Thursday with a blanket and a yoga mat and any props you need, water, a cushion or a yoga block for our first class since the Covid lockdown. Everyone welcome, please park behind the newly renovated hall and enter through the back door.

Casual classes $15

Membership   $70 which includes all classes for the calendar month, whether attended or not.
